Ferne F. Kuhn, M.Ed., founder and principal of The Kuhn Consulting Group (KCG), offers her clients more than 25 years of professional experience as a management and organizational development consultant. She offers an uncommon combination of business experience, managerial expertise and understanding of organizational and power and systems dynamics. She has worked in a variety of large and small organizations including health care and educational institutions, small businesses, and large financial services corporations.
KCG offers programs and services in the areas of strategic planning, executive coaching and understanding systems dynamics. In collaboration with her clients, KCG designs and facilitates large group meetings that enable clients to address complex organizational and community issues. These large group working sessions are task focused and results oriented. In addition, she coaches individual executives to enhance their leadership capacity, team effectiveness and organizational contributions.
Before founding the Kuhn Consulting Group in 1993, Ferne served as Vice President and Director of Career and Organization Development at Electronic Payment Services, Inc. Previously she spent several years with CoreStates First Pennsylvania Bank as Director of Training and Development. Before joining CoreStates, she was a management development consultant for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She was co-founder and Executive Director of Career Alternatives, a nationally recognized career management organization. This non-profit organization was dedicated to supporting individual professional career transitions, leadership development and placement of women in internships in entry to mid-level management positions.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree, she received her Masters in Education from Temple University where she majored in adult education and development. Ferne has extensive training with the National Training Laboratories Institute and Power & Systems Inc. She is certified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Center for Creative Leadership’s Benchmarks 360° Feedback Instrument and to facilitate Power and Systems’ Organization Workshops. She recently completed a five-year international research project focusing on women and leadership.
Ms. Kuhn has done a great deal of work in enhancing women’s leadership and strategic planning skills, especially in her work with Women’s Way, the Forum of Executive Women, Drexel University’s Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine Program, Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School Nonprofit Executive Leadership Institute and the National Institute of Corrections’ Executive Leadership Training for Women Program. Other clients include Shared Medical Systems (now Siemens), UT MD Anderson Cancer Center – Center for Biomedical Engineering and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
