Dr. Morahan provides leadership development, strategic career planning, and faculty affairs consultation services. She works principally with senior administrators and faculty in academic health centers and higher education institutions. Dr. Morahan's services include:
Dr. Morahan has served in leadership positions at the medical school and university level since 1982. She served as Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs at MCP Hahnemann University, and as Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and as Chair of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She was the first woman President of the Association of Medical School Microbiology and Immunology Chairs. Currently, Dr. Morahan is Founding Director of the National Center of Leadership in Academic Medicine, Co-Director of the national Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program for women, and holds a professorship at MCP Hahnemann University School of Medicine where she serves as a part time faculty member. She is also Co-Director of a new leadership program for the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research. Dr. Morahan has published extensively in scientific research, education and organizational development, as well as developed a web site for faculty development resources. Her current research interests include design and evaluation of leadership development programs; analysis of the structure and function of faculty affairs offices; and advancement of women. She is a frequent speaker on these topics at national forums. She has provided consultation to academic medicine administrators, chairs, and faculty at more than twenty medical schools and nonprofit organizations. Dr. Morahan holds a Ph.D. in microbiology, is a Fellow in the American Academy of Microbiology, and was an American Council of Education (ACE) Fellow in 1992-1993. She has also participated in the Harvard University Graduate School of Education Management Development Program, as well as receiving certification in several organizational and personnel development processes. She has served on numerous committees and taskforces of the National Board of Medical Examiners, Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), National Institutes of Health, and American Society of Microbiology. Her honors include an NIH Research Career Development Award, Lindback Award for teaching excellence, AAMC Women in Medicine Leadership Development Award, ACE Network of Women Leadership Award, and membership in the Forum of Executive Women and Caron Foundation Philadelphia Leadership Council. |
